Angular Contact Ball Bearing Application

Angular contact ball bearings are widely used in various industrial applications. These bearings feature maintenance-free design and are able to accommodate axial and radial loads simultaneously. They are commonly used in gas turbines, centrifugal separators, and small cars' front wheels. They can also be found in various water pumps, prospecting machines, polishing machines, and diesel engines.

Angular contact ball bearings are maintenance-free

Maintenance-free angular contact ball bearings are available in different configurations. Single-row angular contact ball bearings are a great choice for applications where only one bearing is needed. However, they are not suitable for applications that require the bearings to be placed next to each other. In such cases, a universal bearing may be better suited.

The operating range of an angular contact ball bearing depends on the type of load it is expected to carry. The radial load is usually higher than the axial load. The radial load is caused by the weight of the parts supported or by external forces.

They accommodate radial load and axial load simultaneously

Angular contact ball bearings are able to accommodate both radial and axial loads at the same time. The radial load has no effect on the axial position of the bearing; however, the axial load does affect the preload. In a double row arrangement, the axial load passes through a gap between the outer and inner rings. This arrangement is largely used for high-speed and high-temperature applications.

Single-row angular contact ball bearings are also available. They can accommodate radial loads in both directions, but they have limited axial load capacity. Compared to deep-groove ball bearings, single-row angular contact ball bearings are a better choice when high axial forces are required.

They feature PEEK cages

PEEK cages are lightweight, temperature resistant, and inert to most chemicals. Moreover, molded cage pockets conform to the shape of the ball, reducing the weight of the cage. The cages are strong enough to act as the pilot cage. PEEK cages are virtually identical to polyamide cages, though the latter have limited temperature capabilities.

PEEK cages are ideal for applications where high speed is necessary. They are also flexible and lightweight, so they don't exert as much force on the balls. This flexibility helps prevent cage generated damage.

They are used in automobile industry

Angular contact ball bearings are a common type of bearings used in the automobile industry. They can be found in single-row and double-row configurations and offer different levels of precision, performance, and capacity. Single-row bearings are often used in hostile environments and are highly precise. However, a double-row bearing is often cheaper and offers more versatility.

Angular contact ball bearings have an increasing demand in automobile industry and their use in this industry is expected to continue growing. Increasing population and the adoption of more advanced technologies is driving the market. The demand for more precision machinery is also contributing to the market growth.
