Crossed Roller Bearings for Robotics and Medical Equipment
Crossed roller bearings are compact units with rollers that alternately cross between the inner and outer rings. They are designed to handle radial, thrust, and moment loads. These bearings are well suited to robotics and medical equipment. For the purposes of this system, Harmonic Bionics chose IKO CRBH crossed roller bearings, which have 100 newton-meters of moment load carrying capability. Moreover, the compact unit can be integrated into small spaces, which makes it ideal for the robotics field.
CRBH Series
The CRBH Series crossed roller bearings have an inner & outer ring and are ideal for industrial robot joints. They feature a special filling slot on the outer ring for insertion of rolling elements. This design offers stable rotational precision and torque, making them the right choice for applications that require limited space and high-speed motion.
Crossed roller bearings are small and lightweight, resulting in high rigidity and precision. Their vertical arrangement of cylindrical rollers and 90deg V groove makes them ideal for handling loads of all directions and can achieve precision levels up to P4. These bearings are especially effective in swiveling units and joints of industrial robots. They can also be used in rotary tables and precision machining centers.
CRBF Series
The CRBF Series of crossed roller bearings provides a robust solution for robotic systems that need precision motion and rigidity. These compact units are highly versatile and capable of handling varying motion requirements in both radial and thrust directions. They are ideal for applications in robotics and medical equipment. The CRBF Series is available in a variety of sizes, constructions, and materials, including a super slim design for smaller spaces.
CRBF Series crossed roller bearings are available in two forms: a split outer ring and an integrated inner ring. The thin outer ring allows for minimal structural weight, while the integrated inner ring allows for increased speed. These bearings are suitable for rotary joints, such as in robot arms.
CRBT105A
Crossed roller bearings are highly durable and are ideal for use in industrial robots. They are especially sought after for the indexing tables of blood centrifuges. Increasing investments in surgical support robots also fuels the growth of this segment in the global market.
They are space-efficient and are also highly accurate. The compact design makes them ideal for automated machine designs where space is a premium. Furthermore, they have low elastic deformation and can withstand loads coming from any direction.
CRBF
Crossed roller bearings are used in robotic systems to provide precision motion. They are suitable for robotic systems that have varying motion requirements, including heavy-duty load handling and light-duty tasks that require very little space. Crossed roller bearings provide a wide range of performance features, including high rigidity.
The contact area of crossed rollers is directly proportional to their load-carrying capacity. A greater roller-to-rail contact area increases load capacity by as much as 250%. Also, closer roller spacing allows more rollers to fit into a given space. The cage design also influences the contact area per inch.
