Important Considerations When Choosing a Thin Tapered Roller Bearing
A thin tapered roller bearing is a great option for applications that require a small amount of precision. It is also a popular choice in the aerospace industry. These bearings are also available in a range of materials. Here are some important considerations to keep in mind when choosing a thin section bearing.
Kaydon Reali-Slim(r) sealed bearings
Kaydon Corporation Bearings Division has released a new catalog for their Reali-Slim(r) sealed thin-section bearings. The updated catalog contains 40 new part numbers and improved availability from stock. It is available in print and as a downloadable PDF file. Additionally, Kaydon has added a new 8 mm series of sealed Reali-Slim(r) bearings. This series has expanded offerings, including bore sizes and metric sizing options.
Kaydon Reali-Slim(r), thin-section ball bearings offer several advantages. The thin-section design minimizes friction and provides a high level of corrosion resistance. These bearings are available with stainless steel or ceramic balls for applications that require high precision and resistance to corrosive materials.
Tedin double row tapered roller bearings
Double row tapered roller bearings are available in different designs for applications in rolling mills, hoisting equipment, and gearboxes. They have high rigidity and can handle heavy radial and axial loads. TDO double row tapered roller bearings feature a single outer ring with two separate cups and cones, while TDI double row tapered roller bearings have two separate outer rings and cups with an intermediate ring.
Tedin double row tapered roller bearings are non-latching and feature two rows of tapered roller elements. They are made with a spacer ring and have high axial load carrying capacity. These bearings are also suited for medium-to-high speeds, and they can be disassembled for easy maintenance. However, a double row tapered roller bearing must not exceed a kinematic limit speed, which must be specified in advance.
Case carburized bearings
Case carburized thin tapered roller bearing is one of the most popular bearings, and is widely used in industrial applications. They are made from a high-carbon steel and are hardened uniformly throughout. The resulting material is stiffer and more resistant to cracking, but it has a shorter life span than other types of bearings.
They are available in a range of sizes, and the outer and inner rings are typically made of 52100 chrome steel, a high-chromium steel. This steel has a high carbon content and 1.5% chromium content, and is made using controlled processing. These properties make them strong and resistant to subsurface rolling contact fatigue.
BB series four-point contact metric bearings
BB series four-point contact metric tapered roller bearings are designed to handle axial loads. The series includes tapered rollers and is available in metric and imperial sizes. These bearings can be used in a variety of applications, including machine tool tables and oil field equipment.
Compared to cross-roller bearings, BB series four-point contact metric bearings have added design flexibility. Their angular contact angle is 35 degrees, enabling them to withstand significant axial loads. In addition to these benefits, these bearings are bundled in a protective package.
