Double Row Spherical Roller Bearing
Double row spherical roller bearings are used for the transmission of large radial and axial loads. These bearings are non-demountable, self-aligning, and can be manufactured with a cylindrical or tapered bore. In addition to having the capability to compensate for shaft deflection, they have high load carrying capacity, rigidity, and are suitable for heavy and impact loads.
In terms of their structure, double row spherical roller bearings consist of an inner ring with two raceways, one for each row of rollers. They are usually fitted to a cylindrical pintle. However, they can also be used in applications where bending or deflection is a problem. Alternatively, they can be supplied with a peripheral lubrication groove in the middle of the outer ring. This is especially useful for applications where press fit on the housing is an issue.
Typical applications of double row spherical roller bearings include: - Vibratory equipment, - Shaker screens, - Gear boxes, - Hydraulic pumps, - Industrial presses. The bearings are available in a wide range of designs and sizes. There are also special coatings for a variety of applications. All bearings are heat stabilized to a temperature of at least 200degC. Most bearings have three lubrication holes in the outer ring. If the bearing is intended for a special placing application, it may be supplied with a lower radial clearance.
Double row spherical roller bearings can be provided with lubrication through the outer and inner rings. In addition, the bearings have a standard radial clearance, which can be adjusted according to the specific application. Many bearings are supplied with a peripheral lubrication hole in the middle of the outer ring. Some bearings can be supplied with a PTFE coated cylindrical bore. Moreover, some sizes of bearings are also available with a tapered bore.
In order to accurately describe the behavior of a spherical roller bearing, a comprehensive dynamic model has to be developed. This model has to account for angular displacements about both the vertical and horizontal axes and all DoFs in the moving race. This is not a simple task, since the spherical roller bearing is a complex and non-linear system. A comparison between the simulation results and common sense serves as partial validation of the model. Moreover, future efforts will be made to validate the model for the design and performance of machine systems.
Generally, a spherical roller bearing has a spherical outer ring raceway and a barrel-shaped inner ring. This configuration provides a spherical profile with high load carrying capacity and a low friction coefficient. It is also insensitive to misalignment of the shaft. Therefore, it can be used in a variety of contaminated environments and shock loads. Spherical roller bearings have also been developed to reduce operational friction and improve bearing carrying capacity.
Double row spherical-roller bearings have been developed to transmit simultaneously acting axial loads in one bearing. They are suitable for transmitting heavy radial or axial loads and are particularly suited to high-speed applications.
