Types of Heavy Duty Roller Bearings
Heavy duty roller bearings are used for heavy, combined radial and axial loads. They are found in automotive, metal and wind industries, material handling, mining, industrial transmissions and a variety of other applications. They are typically manufactured from case or thoroughly hardened high carbon bearing quality steel that is specially alloyed and heat treated to meet the specialized needs of the application.
Common types of roller bearings include radial, cylindrical, tapered and needle bearings, and roller thrust bearings. Each type of roller bearing consists of an inner ring, an outer ring, a cage (roller retainer), and rollers. Under normal operation, the radial load is carried by the rollers while the cage spaces and retains the rollers on the cone.
Needle Rollers – Machined or Heavy-Duty Type
Needle rollers are designed for radial and axial load applications where a low profile is desired. Needle rollers are available with a solid machined outer ring and a lubrication groove to facilitate relubrication. They are commonly used in gearboxes, pumps, motors, valves and other large mechanical components.
SKF's Heavy-Duty Needle Rollers are made from carbon chromium bearing steel and are available in many series and sizes. They feature a solid machined outer ring that offers higher rigidity and can handle heavier loads than drawn cup needle rollers. The lubrication groove in the ring allows for relubrication through the ring or through a separate sleeve.
Hevi-Rail(r) Guides & Systems
The original heavy duty bearing system that has proven itself in the toughest environments, Hevi-Rail is a cost effective solution to linear motion tasks where radial and axial loads are combined. Featuring case-hardened steel that disperses forces and provides even distribution of load, Hevi-Rail linear guides are an ideal solution for lift units, trucks and heavy handling applications.
Sealed Spherical Roller Bearings – LGEP 2 Grease
The sealed design of SKF's spherical roller bearings prevents contamination and minimizes maintenance requirements. This saves time and money, while reducing environmental impact. They are pre-lubricated with SKF LGEP 2 grease, which is suitable for high load, extreme pressure and wide temperature applications.
Hevi-Rail Linear Guides & Systems for Custom Lift Units, Trucks and Heavy Load Handling Applications
The Hevi-Rail heavy duty linear guide system has a proven track record of providing consistent performance and high satisfaction in toughest environments. Featuring hardened steel that thrives in dirt and grime, Hevi-Rail rails disperse forces evenly throughout the bearings, and are able to accommodate radial and axial loads up to 60 tons per guide.
A complete line of precision radial and axial double-row, ball & self-aligning bearings are available for a variety of applications. These high-performance, durable and greasable flanged & take up bearings are manufactured in the USA. They are available in 1-15/16" & 2" ID, and a range of bore sizes with shafts and bolts.
Whether you need a standard double row spherical roller bearing or a more complex design, we'll help you find the right bearing for your specific application. A wide selection of seals are also available, including PTFE and CRES sealcaps that reduce the risk of contamination.
